About
September 22, 2009Every time I visit a photographer’s site, I always check out their about me page. I LOVE reading about the people behind the pictures. So here’s a little something your probably didn’t know about me. Before photography found me, I used to travel the country and work in National Parks, my favorites were Zion NP and Glacier NP. Later, I lived in a (unheated, un-airconditioned) tent year round for 18 months as a wilderness counselor to troubled teenage boys. I can make a mean fettuccine alfredo over a campfire! At some point, I worked a job taking heroine addicts into the woods for 21 days to detox. Seriously!
I don’t think any of those jobs were as rewarding of the one I’m tackling now, raising two amazing little boys of my own. When my husband and I aren’t taking the boys on the river or into the woods, I do my next favorite thing, create beautiful pictures that illustrate the stories of incredible families.
I love my job, I love the families I photograph, I love to create beautiful pictures. I love seeing the tear in a Mother’s eye when she first sees the images from our session. When she first sees a side of her child that has never before been captured. A side that has eluded the conventional school and portrait photographer. Her real smile, his mischievous side, her curiosity, his thoughtfulness, her innocence.
My method and style are very non-traditional. I don’t pose your children or tell them to “smile and say cheese”. We talk, we laugh, we play silly games, we run, we explore. Sometimes I’m not sure who has more fun, me or the kids! The world is our studio, the sun is our light-source. My goal is to capture the beauty, innocence, and spirit of play in every child.
I am pleased to make full-resolution images on CD available for purchase so that you can print, share, and archive your images. Purchasing a session CD helps to ensure that your investment and story lives on through several lifetimes.
