Nadeya – the first to be photographed in the new studio!!

My good friend actress/songwriter Nadeya is visiting from California so I took some headshots of her in the new studio. The place is amazing. I LOVE it and can’t wait to do more sessions there. Thanks Nadeya!

Earth Day 2010

April 22, 2010

earth day

What a beautiful day to remind us of the gift we have in this planet we live on! I was just sitting here thinking about what we do as a family and as a business to be “green” and protect the earth for my children, their children, and the generations to come. Of course there’s the obvious things like recycling, using biodegradable and natural cleaning products, packing prints and products in recycled gift bags and canvas tote bags that can be reused, reusing all the packaging materials that come to me. I also use paperless billing, contracts, and marketing materials. Even my new studio is “recycled”. It’s an old church in historic old SW Roanoke that has recently been renovated. (Wait until you see how gorgeous the old hardwood floors look in pictures!)

And then there are the not so obvious things, like offering images on a disk. How many times have you gone to get your children’s pictures done and ended up with a drawer full of prints! Just think, for a $9.99 deal (that somehow ended up costing many times that) you not only got enough pics of the exact same picture to give to all your friends and family and you still have a drawerful of what boils down to wasted ink, paper, and chemicals!

By ordering your images on a disk, you can reduce waste by printing only the pictures you want to display and give as gifts. You can show them off digitally through email, facebook, blogs, myspace, and digital scrapbooking. And most importantly, you can digitally archive them so they will be enjoyed for generations to come!

In honor of Earth Day, I’m offering a digital special that includes a photo session at either my downtown Roanoke Studio or the earthy location of your choice and a disk of 20-30 high resolution edited images from the session to print, share, and archive. This is a great deal for anyone planning a session in the near future because you have until Earth Day 2011 to redeem it. This $2200 package is available for only $800 to the first three people who purchase it by tomorrow.

Click here to see if you are one of the lucky three to get this great price on the Earth Day Special. If you are it will take you to paypal for payment.

Enjoy the rest of this beautiful day in celebration of this amazing planet we call home. Peace.

Seeing Shadows

March 31, 2010

After many many MANY hours of experimenting, I think I got this silhouette thing down! If you’re waiting for your silhouette proofs, you should hear from me sometime next week. I’m really excited about how they turned out!

I am so excited to finally announce the future opening of Annabelle Studios in a beautiful historic church in downtown Roanoke. It is a photographer’s dream with hardwood floors, gorgeous natural light, and a great downtown location. We are scheduled to open the doors in May so please plan to come see me!

***Woohoo!  Got it all set up for you.  Now I’m going to bed, tomorrow’s my oldest son’s 6th birthday!  He’s growing up so fast.  Lost his first two teeth last week.  Seems like just yesterday we were watching the baby teeth break through the gums.  Happy birthday Jack!  Good night and enjoy your pics.

PS- Those of you waiting on the silhouettes, keep an eye out for an email from me over the next couple of day!  They turned out awesome, can’t wait for you to see them!!!***

*** UPDATE:  Your images are online!  I’m having a little trouble remembering how to redirect the url I gave you so you can access it here for the time being.  I’m sure I’ll figure it out soon, what did people do before google?  Here’s the page…  http://annametheny.com/wordpress/girlscout/ It is password protected with the password I gave out at the dance last night.  Thanks for your patience!  ****

I had so much fun with you all last night and seriously had no idea Girl Scouts were such good dancers!  I’m putting the finishing touches on your photos and the slideshow right now.  It should all by up posted later tonight.  Feel free to poke around my site in the meantime.

Jack came in the room yesterday really upset. He was crying that his favorite tooth broke off. I assured him that it was normal and it meant it was a big boy. I even told him that the tooth fairy would come and bring him money if he left it under his pillow. That didn’t help at all because he wanted to keep it. Phone calls to Daddy, Grammie, Pops, Grandma, and Grandpa didn’t help him feel better about losing his “favorite” tooth. He refused to put it under his pillow last night because he wanted pictures of it. So today we went outside and photographed his favorite tooth. He’s finally agreed to put it under the pillow because I told him the tooth fairy would give it back when he was all grown up. We put it in a special box and he blessed it with a wish. It seems like it was just yesterday that we were celebrating the first little tips of teeth coming through the gums. I can’t believe my little boy is growing up so fast!

Don’t forget about the time change. See you there!
